Horrendous company - rejected our application after being forced to use Braintree to continue taking PayPal payments with our apps. Been with PayPal for many years and have proven that we are of no risk. Will now not be able to accept PayPal payments due to Braintree's ridiculous application process.
Stay far away from Braintree. I've been struggling with them for months now to close my account. Last year, I bought out my business partner in a very amicable deal and he is no longer part of the company. I have all the documentation to show that I am now the sole owner of the company but Braintree still wants my old partner to confirm the closing of the account. I fail to see why I can't close an account that I do not want or need when I own 100% of the company. This situation poses a security threat to our company having a credit card processor that is active but unused.So far the company we have used to replace Braintree hs offered excellent service and has made it easy to integrate into our e-commerce system. I can now see why Braintree has a one-star rating here. If only there was a choice for zero stars.
If I could give zero I would. 2 years ago thought they would be a safer payment gateway. Never used the feature at all. Sold my business as I am moving overseas and went to close the business bank account. I couldnt because braintree have merchant facility attched. Many phone calls and many emails later, I have 4 business days left in Australia to close the account and stop account keeping fees and braintree will not respond to me. Everyone else was so easy and helpful to deal with but these Americans are just non-communicative. I now have to go to the bank and explain the situation and hope they will close the account. Never deal with these people. The only time they are helpful is if you want to sign up with them.
They declined my account as well without any reason. After I asked for more details about the decline. I got the Sablon answer email."We appreciate you following up for more information. As we mentioned previously, our credit team manually reviews each potential Braintree merchant and makes these decisions on a case by case basis. To make this decision, we looked at several factors. Braintree considers your business model to be higher risk and one we cannot support at this time."I did not have to provide any business model and what can be the higher risk? :) I wanted to run the Braintree on my hosting website where you can buy web hosting, email, VPN service, Git Repository, System Administrator service and a lot of any services. If PayPal and Stripe already approved what can be the problem here.???!!!But the support answer was quick, so this is the 1 star instead of 0 :)
After spending days experimenting with their sandbox and integrating their API, they simply declined our application when we wanted to switch to the real environment. Of course without giving any reasons! Would have been nice to inform us upfront that there is such a hurdle, before we wasted so much time. I wish we had checked their reviews on Trustpilot before...
Suspended my account without notice because of somebody attempted to order with a "fraudulent" credit card? No chargebacks just somebody trying to order online with a bad credit card and it was blocked. They gave me no details and locked me out of my account. You cannot rely on this company for your business. Stay away.
No Brainer, stay away! Braintree came recommended by BigCommerce I run my web store on. After submitting the application, Braintree asked for more and more documentation, including a copy of my id, list of sales for the last year, company documents and more. After a month going to and fro I decided to go with another provider and got approved within 48 hours. The only reason for two stars is the fact the consultant I dealt with answered my emails very quickly. Should have checked here first before dealing with Braintree.
If I could gave them 0 stars I would do that!really really bad experience with this company. Keep your fingers away. At beginning they do everything do convince you and they tell you that they work with paypal togheter, but it isn't true. we had since april a case, that a client paid with a stolen credit card. It's happen, that they blocked not only this client, but every payment what was made also from other clients. so, we lost money and our products. so we must wait until now, that braintree paid us the open amount but of course, the stolen credit card sum was not repaid.but not finished yet. they put very high charges on this.
We had a nice time using the sandbox API and integrating this into our mobile apps. The application process took almost two months for only to receive a rejection without any explanation. Lot's of work down the drain.Apply first and then start developing if you get accepted. But honestly, don't bother.
