Charged to my mobile 😳…

I was charged by my mobile phone service provider for confirming to OpenTable that I still wanted the table I had booked. There is no warning in the text I received to say I could be charged and I then got a polite warning from my company about charging personal items to my company mobile. Thanks a lot open table! Won’t be using you again if I can avoid it!

Charged for premium number

Like many others, charged for responding to OpenTable’s text to confirm my booking without any notification in the message that this was a premium number with a charge.

OpenTable scam text message scam

I have investigated this issue of OpenTable using a Premium Rate phone line to send booking details and ask for booking status conformations. You will be charged if you respond to their booking reminders or send the STOP to opt out of their reminder service. Open Table claim they don't get the fee but BT who charge me £0.13 per SMS Text, insist they pay the money to OpenTable. The Phone Paid Service Authority who are supposed to regulate this confirm OpenTable does use a premium rate line and should warn customers that they will be charged.

Beware hidden charges

Like many others in this thread I was charged 19p by my mobile phone service provider for confirming to OpenTable that I still wanted the table I had booked. There is no warning in the text I received to say I could be charged.

Premium Rate Text Issue

Same experience as many others. Booked a restaurant through OpenTable. Couple of days later I received a text asking me to confirm reservation - no mention that the response would be charged at a Premium Rate.

Scam!

They charged me £0.13 to to confirm my reservation by replying to a text, but did not say it was a premium number. Total scam, book direct with the resturant.

Open table is not safe

Open table has clearly been hacked as I was victim of a scam where the scammer knew the restaurant , date and time of my reservation. My card provider acted brilliantly to protect me and said that this scam was happening a lot at the moment. Open table's website says there site is secure and they have not answered my email to them.

Premium charge texts

Like others, I was sent a text from Opentable asking me to confirm my booking. When I replied to confirm, I was charged 15p for sending my reply to them. No warning of the charge. I’ve no doubt there is a warning buried deep in their Terms and Conditions, but this is sharp practice.

Charging for unsolicited texts.

I didn't realise that this was open table as I rang to book direct. Was happy paying the deposit although the restaurant didn't tell me one was payable. However was not happy with later texts that would have cost me to reply to. Unreasonable and unacceptable.

Another one adding to the complaints about the premium rate text. At no point was I adequately informed about this cost
