Review of Canva

Canva is scamming me

I cancelled my subscription at the end of my trial period but every they take payments. I think they are desperate for money thats why Canva started to scam people. Their support service is useless. I will chargeback through my bank and write on all major social medias to let others know to stay away from this scamming company

Beware of buying expensive items through Amazon

On 13 Jan I ordered a paid £559.97 for an iPad Air. The box arrived on 14 January containing no iPad but a book entitled ‘Good Girl Bad Blood’. According to the Amazon app however, the iPad had been delivered. It was difficult to get through to Amazon by phone, but when I did, they didn’t seem at all surprised. I then had to go to the post office to return the book in order to obtain a refund which will apparently take 14 days. All very matter of fact to Amazon - no apology for the distress and wasting of my time.

Predatory Subscription Service

I signed up for a free account upon the recommendation of a professor, and then was charged $159 for a premium subscription that I did not sign up for. I received no warning email about a subscription charge. When I reached out to ask for assistance and a refund I was told they do not do refunds. Very predatory in their practices.

Philips one blade

Saw the one line adds. Looked great, removing a full beard to clean skin in one stroke. However the truth is very different. Scrub scrub at your beard leaving skin irritated and raw. Not nice. Used once, put back in box never to be used again.

Google 'free' battery replacement a myth......

Google made an upgrade to its phones which meant I needed a battery replacement. It looks good when they say they will do this for free, BUT when I sent my phone off they wanted £70 to do a very minor unnecessary repair to the back. Wouldn't replace the battery without this, so my 'free replacement' was a myth and they used it as a way of getting money out of me. So disappointing.... but what else should we expect from these large companies? The customer is likely to be the loser so please think carefully before you buy a Google phone.

Purchased a Japanese Domestic Market Casio watch. Received in US only 3 days from the time it left Japan via DHL. Item was genuine. Well packaged. The only glitch was my credit card issuer initially flagged the transaction as suspicious and denied the charge. After telling them it was indeed me, I resubmitted the same credit card for payment, without a glitch. Would definitely use Amazon Japan again.

Review of agoda

Agoda and owners cannot honour confirmed bookings

I booked the week of 15 December to 23 December 2024 through the Agoda app. Booking was paid ans confirmed. Booking ID:485050751I decided to email to get check in information 2 days before the booking started as the property did not send it. Email was answered by Zukiswa Nojoko aka Wendy, saying she does not have a booking from us as it was not confirmed.I then called the number on the confirmation, she answered and I siad hello, who I am and asked who I am speaking to, she answered: Who are you wena. I said again who I am, and that I want to get check in information and asked where I can get the keys in the 15th. Basically enquired about the booking I made on Agoda. She then said that she declined my booking on her side and that it is not the first time that Agoda confirms a guest after she declined. I asked her what am I to do then as I paid and recieved a confirmation from Agoda. She said that it is not her problem, she already has guests there and I must sort it out with Agoda. Aparently she says that she asked Agoda before to remove her listing but they continue to book her flat. I am left stuck without accomodation, 2 days before our booking was set to start. I have to wait up to 30 days for a refund. Our trip is now costing us x3 more than the original booking. Do not use A perfect place to be, to relax and unwind. Sea view. Do not trust Zukiswa Nojoko / WendyAnd do not book through Agoda!!

Review of Spotify

3 months free, not free

I signed up for a new account as I've never had spotify before. The offer I signed up for included the 1st 3 months for free. They debited my account for £10.99 as soon as I signed up. I contacted support to get this fixed and after 4 days of back and forth they have now said it was 3 months for the price of 1. I have send screenshots of everything saying it should be free and they are refusing to let me have the month they have taken money for. The say I can get a refund but will lose access to my account and won't be able to use any offers to sign up again. Terrible customer service, terrible unprofessional language used and terrible debiting practices.

Review of economist

Never recieved a print edition and they made it cumbersome to cancel

I recently decided to cancel my subscription to The Economist, since I don't get enough time to read it and consider it expensive for what it is (I also subscribe to Bloomberg and the FT). The website said that I needed to speak to someone before terminating, so I waited in the chat room. Once connected to a human, I was taken through a long persuasion pitch to make me reconsider: "what was your favourite article?" etc. I told the agent I was in a rush, but he insisted on going through the motions. Over the course of the conversation, I was offered a cheaper digital-only deal. But that's what I thought I was already paying for since I had never received a print edition of the paper. When I told him that I hadn't been receiving my print copies, the agent initially offered to refund for the physical editions I had not received. But when I told him that I had never received a single print edition, the refund figure was swiftly revised down to $20 - which is far less than the $260 worth of missed copies. I asked for immediate cancellation but kept being left on hold or taken through an arduous conversation about staying. After about 20 minutes into the chat, I lost my patience and asked to make a formal complaint. The subscription was then quickly cancelled. I would have considered sticking with the digital-only deal had I not been short-changed with the print edition and annoyed by the whole termination process. The Economist produces quality journalism, but its sales and customer support is dire.
