Always thought meditation was a hippy sitting cross legged w/ pinched fingers on knees going"Ooouuumm" until COVID in Feb 2020 and I desperarely needed help getting centered and with sleep. Over a year later, I am still drawn to my Calm app every morning for my 20 minutes or 2 hours of meditations. It not only has centered my life w/ thier valuable life lessons everyday on mindfulness but it helps me go to sleep or get back to sleep when I need help. Calm has sleep stories, bedtime stories, sleep music..... They offer daily meditations.....even exercises. They also have classes on how to meditate, understanding anxiety, depression.....so much more. I have sampled other meditation sites and no one comes close to them for $59.99 a year. It is incredible!! I will never go a day without them again!
Predatory free trial. It's bad enough that they purposely offer free trials so users who forget to cancel pay for the product, but it's even worse when the plan they automatically charge you for is the ANNUAL subscription. Who after a 7 day free trial wants to buy the largest subscription package automatically? As a user experience designer, the developers at calm should be ashamed.I'll also mention regarding the product - it is nicely packaged but you can get all of these types of recordings for free online or through the apps you already pay for. Do yourself a favour and google asoftmurmur and youtube 'guided meditation' and you have a more customizable version of what you are tricked to pay for here.
Calm is promoting plastic in one of their campaigns. Very irresponsible for an org that wants to do good in the world. This plastic cocoon trend made out of cling film and put up in the forest? What do you think young kids will do when copying it? Take it down or leave the mess behind? Honestly. Out your words where your mouth is. And don’t come up with something like, it was an eco friendly cling film. Kids ain’t going to understand that nor use making this thing.
Some aspects of the app are fine. But some voices (cannot listen to Tamara) and music are irritating and distracting. As for the sleep stories, many of them have a child as the central character. As an adult it is hard to relate to such a theme even if the underlying message is to find our inner child! Give us some grown up sleep stories, no purple skies,no magical birds,no beautiful flowers, no kind grandmothers.
i‘d rather give 0 stars. calm support is ignoring my messages and not solving my query!!! most disappointing costumer support I ever had to experience. despite having a subscription the premium content is still blocked and nobody wants to help me!!!
While CALM is an interesting app, the lie that I could “stop [my] subscription any time” meant they charged me for the full year. That alone is giving me anxiety and Insomnia. I never use it and I am too angry to want to.
Some people make their living by stealing. That is what this app is all about. They count on those that will fail or are unable to cancel so they can take $69.99 I wanted to tell people how to get their money back, but I could not find any pages where people asked that question or provided the answer. Here is how I got my money back.If you bought the app through Google Play, they will instantly give you a refund. At least they did me. I think they are aware of this exploit and maybe the Calm app triggers some algorithm in their system to instantly refund you as soon as you request it. I am not sure, but we instantly got a notice that our refund was approved. This is how.1. Log into Google Play2. Click Account3. Click Order History4. Click "Report a Problem" next to the Calm Charge of 69.99 or whatever they charged.5. Select “I purchased by accident”6. Then it gives you some options, but choose to use the form by filling in the problem at the bottom. I put “The Calm app charged us $69.99 even though we did not want it”.7. Click Submit. There was instantly an email in my email inbox telling us that our refund was approved.
