We were pretty new to payment gateways. We applied for several and got accepted in a couple of providers. But we decided to apply for another one which Wix recommended as their main gateway. Without too much thinking, and trusting Wix we decided to give it a go. The process was quite complicated, to begin with and we submitted a lot of documents. The problems began right from the start, but we decided that we are going to be a really good customer and comply with everything Braintree requested and give our absolute best to make sure we have this payment provider. We have been investing 100s of ours for 2 months to try to comply with all the requirements and meanwhile processing the payments for our products with no disbursement. Eventually, it turned out that Wix cannot comply with one of Braintree requirements on the side of implementing their Kount mechanism for Fraud Tools. Alright, 2 months waisted but we decided that crew that, let's see how we can stay in the game. We asked the Braintree team whether they integrate well with any of the WordPress plugins. They said yes and we made a decision to transfer the whole website to WordPress which is an INSANE amount of work.Right on when we were about to execute this decision we get a message from Braintree that they regardless terminate our account. I asked again providing all the info and showing complete willingness to go an extra 100 miles to make this work. I got a regular salesy reply from them giving me no additional information and not telling why they are closing our account. We had 2 chargeback cases out of more than 250 transactions. Half of our revenue went through Braintree. ANd guess what, half of our revenue is frozen for 90 days on the platform. This is crazy. We are a small but rapidly growing business and cases like this put us in real danger. They are not willing to release even a little bit of our money. If not for regular PayPal transactions our business would have been dead now.I wish I have found this Trustpilot review list earlier. I would have never gone with Braintree. This is absolutely insane. How does their business model work????I believe there needs to be a public uproar about this company. How does PayPal allow itself to be owning such a scam?I really hope we will get this money, we put our blood sweat and tears into this. Literally, I have never dealt with a bigger issue with making a company than solving that Braintree case. At this point it feels to me that it is easier to make a million dollar company from zero than to successfully have Braintree as a payment provider.
Same story as below. Signed up to Braintree through Shootproof. First order came in and boom. Issues straight away. Now no response from support. Shootproof washing their hands of any responsibility. £150 of my money sitting with Braintree that I cannot get. How can they keep operating??Update 19/03/2019. Braintree now ignoring all requests for an update on this issue. Surely this must be illegal?? Is anyone pursuing this company through the courts?
I've been using Braintree for about a month now since I built my website using BigCommerce. I use a different merchant processor at my store, Clover. Its extremely frustrating when my Clover deposits are two days faster than those by Braintree. A customer walks into my business and uses their credit card on Saturday, the money is in my account on Monday morning. A customer purchases the same item on my website on the same day and its not in my account until Wednesday. You call the customer service number and unsympathetic robots tell you, "it can take up to 3 business days." BUT IT SHOULDN'T!!!
We have fallen victim of Braintree Risk Review, after processing only one payment. I have no idea why they decided to do this after one payment processed, my understanding is their initial review during our application was a risk assessment and went to the underwriters for approval. We where asked to provide information on the 8th January and we are still not done, despite sending the following documentation already....5 x Copies of my personal bills (Mobile, Gas/Electricity, Landline Bill, Water/Council Tax, TV/Cable Bill)1 x Copy of my driving licence (Front and Back).3 x Business Statements including FULL balances and transaction details.1 x Screenshot of online banking showing balances of accounts.2 x Invoices from suppliers showing purchased products.2 x Photos of products purchased and on hand.2 x Copy of our Reseller Agreements.1 x Copy of business incorporation certificate.1 x Copy of our fraud policy1 x Copy of our Marketing strategyWhat else do they need its becoming excessive, I provided less documentation to buy my car and house combined! I find their service extremely unfriendly towards small business. So far there is no end in sight for this review and we have no choice to comply in order to get our money (even if it is a small amount).
Fraudulent company Made by PaypalDear,We got exactly the same issue, it is usual practice for Paypal that hold this company, we several years ago send a complain on forum and got around 40 people that had the frozen paypal account,With Braintree our account frozen since 2017, we invite people start county court with Small claim procedure against Paypal UK Ltd and Paypal Europe Ltd Owner of Braintree. Also can be done a legal action against Paypal Inc delaware and report this payment services to FCA to lock him in the UK.It need to be massive complains.Good luck
After more than 2 years of successful cooperation, they just locked our account forever. With a very weird explanation like our business model is too risky for them. Selling advertising is risky, really? No problems with customers, just 1 dispute for more than 2 years. Yeah, really risky. They also have frozen our money for 90 days. Now we need to switch all our customers to another payment gateway. The right way of doing business in such cases is to notify a partner sometime before you decide to terminate cooperation. But they just stopped it immediately!Extremely unreliable partner, you cannot plan your company or cash flow with such a provider, avoid them at all cost!
Found the application process very and unnecessarily invasive, requiring dozens of back-and-forth emails to provide documents and to try and justify whatever use case we had. In the end we decided to discontinue our application and went with Stripe, who took less than a day to get our account going and we've happily been with them for over a year now, no issues. Disappointing to say the least, I can't see the reason for frustrating would-be customers during the on-boarding process.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. While processing my application Braintree allowed me to process payments. I later received an email from them stating the application wasn’t approved and all transactions have been refunded. At this point I had already shipped thousands of dollars worth of products and Braintree says they cannot do anything about it. Unbelievable. I do not recommend using Braintree.
