Review Time
Ordered subscription for basics and even donated tax for it. Then 'after' anotherscreen pops up and says you want to add the annual car review...and add digital...All priced too high. I wanted to cancel so I called customer service and was put on hold way too long. Finally, I got someone who wanted me to justify my cancelation. I threatened to contact the BBB and they canceled it. Their top4 executives together make about 2 1/2Million Dollars. I will bet you many or most employees get big salaries and Ihave a suspicion there is minimal money left to actually do the research. I will no longer trust them not to take bribes. Actual hours of testing will no longer be something I have confidence in. Bye Bye.(BBB might want to reexamine this non-profit. My new opinion is it is a scam.)Too Bad.
Consumer Reports used to be great and interactive. You could rate your products and it actually had one of the most comprehensive surveys for your products beyond just standard reviews. Now you can't submit reviews of products anymore. They just completely removed that ability and it's not a useless site. The lack of ability to do so means less transparency and less overall desire to even remotely interact with their website, the magazine, and makes me question their customer feedback since I can't personally contribute anymore like you used to be able to do. They have surveys every once and a while but that's not good enough. Need to be able to review products as we see fit on our own time. Do surveys based off of what we review say a year later a follow-up survey comes to us to check reliability etc and then again for the next few years or allow updated reviews too. This new way is just terrible. Everybody I know that loved it no longer uses or trusts it because of these changes.
This is a great organization that provides information and advocacy for consumer safety. I have been a member for years and very much appreciate their guides. In a fast-paced shopping environment that encourages impulse-buying, it is really helpful to have a model of how to slow down and be thoughtful and careful when making purchases. Would highly recommend reading the articles in addition to the reviews, which cover recent findings on safety. They update their recommendations based on new information when things change, and provide background and history on topics. They provide ways to help advocate for other people's privacy, safety, and health as well.
My membership was canceled in July 2024. I don't have any access to account at Consumer Reports anymore since July 2024, but they autorenewal subscription anyway and took $30,74 from my account on 01/03/2025. I canceled membership because it is not worth the cost. I didn't get digital access to all promised benefits.
Honestly not worth the cost. They don't provide details to back up thier ratings. Any other website has more details. Plus they don't deep dive at all. I used it to rank products which it does provide and is helpful but I can't trust it without seeing the breakdown. 1-5 rating scale is not enough. So my take is save your money and do more research. Ratings.com is great at providing detailed breakdowns and reviews a wider range of products
Online membership cannot be cancel ahead of time or you lose your access immediately. So if you wait until and miss the date by one day the charge you again and if you cancel you lose an entire month. So it cost me two months to just get one month worth of service.
quite simply the WORST out there. i remember when this company USED to be the BEST when it came to reviews. Today it is a shell of its former self. I had a membership for literally 1 hour, tried to find something and found there wasn't a single review for the product i was looking for.i asked for a refund (they state before you buy, you can cancel AT ANY TIME) they just forgot to tell you they will NOT give you a full refund, even if you had it for an hour.tried to contact CS, good luck with that. NO ONE there. What a company. I've disputed the charge with AMEX and they told me there are PLENTY of folks they try to roll for a month's worth of membership.how embarrassing to be this company. i can only imagine what it's like to work there (shuddddddder).
I bought an LG 1500 dollar tv from conns. I had it for 3 months it went out and I called and told them it took 3 weeks for someone to come and try to fix it. I took pics of the tv the day I made the claim there was no scratch or mark on the tv. Well in the process of waiting to have tv fixed my cat unfortunately knocked it over. I didn’t think up much about it since they were coming to fix it. Unfortunately I was told the tv is know longer covered with the warranty because my cat knocked it down while on the floor. It’s terrible how fragile these expensive tvs are and I regret buying it. It cost 1500 dollars just for the screen sand price as the tv. I’m extremely heart broken and LG LIFE ID NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!
