Don't fly with Emirates

On the night of November 26th to 27th, my wife with children was supposed to fly from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Mexico for the New Year holidays. Hotels and children's entertainment were booked and paid for through Booking, Airbnb, and other services. At the check-in counter, Emirates Airlines security personnel turned them away without providing any reasons, and they were not allowed to check in luggage or board the flight. Yesterday, before the plane departed, I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to explain to the airline staff that such actions are unacceptable and it is illegal to deny passengers boarding without explanation, especially considering my wife has been to several countries, including Mexico. There have never been any problems with other airlines. But that's just the first part of the story.Yesterday, after the plane left without my wife and children, I tried to communicate with the airline staff through their website chat. I inquired about a full refund. They replied that I needed to wait (probably until the plane lands in Mexico), wait until they receive a response from their security service, and then I can request a refund, but not a full one – as they put it, an "honest" refund. Seriously? An "honest" refund? My wife waited for 3 hours with our 3-year-old daughter in her arms just to get through registration and board the plane! I want to make it clear that I will post reviews everywhere possible, and I won't remove them until a full refund is issued with an apology. They ruined all our New Year holidays with their rules. Also, they exit the chat with a slick phrase like, "Oh, we see that you've stepped away, so we're ending the chat, but feel free to contact us with any questions 24/7." Guys, this is not an airline; it's some kind of money scam. Now I feel the only option is to pursue legal action.

Not enough time to push through letterbox?

Garment small enough to fit through letterbox was only partially pushed through letter box flap and majority left hanging outside at 5.30pm - it wasn’t even pushed through enough to be seen from the inside. Consequently I did not see it until the following morning. Is it just me or do other people have this experience? I understand couriers are time pressured but that shouldn’t mean our orders are left visible to passers by in a way that theft is a temptation. Leaving negative feedback on Amazon doesn’t lead to a response of any kind, their algorithm doesn’t even allow you to leave a specific reason for your dissatisfaction. I urge more people to leave a review here on Trustpilot if they have similar experiences in the vague hope that Amazon might tighten up.

Review for Best BuyI recently attempted to purchase a power lift chair for my ill uncle through Best Buy’s online chat, seeking to add assembly and haul-away services for his old chair. Despite multiple assurances from various representatives that haul-away service was available, I was repeatedly transferred and ultimately directed to call an 800 number. After spending over two and a half hours navigating through chats and calls, I was finally informed that haul-away service wasn’t available for this product. This experience was frustrating and time-consuming, highlighting significant communication issues within Best Buy’s customer service. I hope the company addresses these inconsistencies to prevent future customers from enduring similar ordeals.

Avoid Tripadvisor Plus at all costs

Do NOT sign up for Tripadvisor Plus ($99/yr) unless you enjoy throwing away your hard-earned money. I’m surprised and disappointed that a reputable company like Tripadvisor decides to run its business this way.Tripadvisor Plus is an online travel agency (OTA) that gives you highly discounted hotel rooms because they pass on the OTA’s commission to you in savings. A great idea in theory. But many problems in practice. My experience included: (1) hotel chain not finding my reservation in their system, (2) Tripadvisor phone support hanging up before I could get connected, (3) Tripadvisor claiming that a room is non-refundable even though their own conformational email said that it’s refundable. Some would call this growing pains but personally I think they’re trying to see what they can get away with — after all, Tripadvisor owns Viator, which has been in the OTA business for years.

Cavetown was unbelievably amazing

Cavetown was unbelievably amazing, even though he was sick. I just had a hard time standing for 5 hours and waiting an hour just for an opener to come out. The second opener took a whole hour to play a whole album and he probably played more songs than cavetown did. Next time I come I would like the openers to play less and have them come out when the show starts instead of an hour later.
