This is week two of the absurdity. Last week I was trying to order two pairs of shoes (separate days) and needed help through Chat. After lengthy questions they simply shut the Chat down - TWICE. There were so many issues a manager got involved. Today I received the second pair of shoes ordered. They are a half size too large so I tried to call their 866 number. It isn't working. Reluctantly, I tried Chat. After repeating that I needed a different size, a couple of minutes in they still couldn't comprehend. I tried the 866 number again, no go. I called the local store to see if they had my size but the girl acted like she couldn't hear me and hung up. I wrote to customer service and someone responded. I replied only to receive a response from a different person asking the same question the first person had asked. IT'S A NIGHTMARE! There simply is no help any which way you turn. There has been no sign of the first pair of shoes I ordered either and that was about two weeks ago.

Widespread cheating on every time control pool and they do nothing about it. Once you get above 1800 or so, 90% of your games are against cheaters. Fair Play team at Chess.com sucks and is actually incentivized to not ban cheaters due to the Ad Revenue.

The constant emails reporting that your name or paper have been mentioned are completely fabricated. They reported I had 60 mentions to lure me into trying premium. This seemed highly unlikely to me as I only have one published paper. Turns out I only have two mentions (that academia is aware of -- I can find a few other on google scholar and elsewhere.) So the claims they make about your mentions are not only wildly inflated they are simultaneously incomplete. The emails are clearly bait to get you to sign up out of curiosity. But it doesn't stop there. After claiming my charges would be 4.95/ month, Academia charged my credit card 49.50! So, if you have fallen for the scam (as I did) don't think that simply cancelling auto-pay will be sufficient. I did that the same day I signed up for it. Once you paid the fee it's pretty easy to see it's a scam, so I figured, whatever I'll lose 5 bucks and just cancel auto-pay. Thankfully, I checked my credit card the day after and saw their charge for 49.50! I have requested a total refund as they claim they have a 30 day money back guarantee. But with a company this dishonest, I have a feeling it won't be that easy to get my money back. Please don't take the bait. As other are reporting here -- this is an outright scam (with an apparent side order of fraud).

I’ve been charged 1437.58€ following the renewal of an account that I never used, and I was never contacted to remind me that the debit would take place. This is the first time I've seen this kind of procedure, even though I also work in the Saas sector. Avoid this company if you can. I submitted a request for a refund, which has obviously gone unanswered for 4 days. If no action is taken within 48 hours, I will file a complaint (and European laws are fortunately well suited to this kind of scam) + file a PayPal dispute.If by any chance someone from Hootsuite is reading this, here’s my account number : 77555491

My playlist is regularly hit with false spam reports because Spotify apparently has the stupidest reporting system out there. A report automatically takes down a playlist's metadata (description, image, and title) even if none of the TOS were violated. Support has been completely unhelpful.

Yeah Preply is pretty awesome. Good customer service too. I personally don't like how they charge by the 4-week section instead of monthly (because I get paid monthly regardless of the days/weeks in the month), so it gets VERY tricky for me sometimes when the month and 4-week period drift far apart, but other than that it is a great platform. I've been using it for 3+ years consistently.

I tried out Coursera to expand my writing skills and what a shitshow it is. You have to write peer reviews to advance, so I got either a single "Good" comment on what should be a well thought out answer, or content that was AI generated. You have the ability to opt in or out of AI reviews, but when your classmates are using ChatGPT or phoning it in on their feedback, there's no point either way. Their 'Coach' AI feedback makes me feel like I'm in a new dystopian hell, with only bland, semi-accurate information. The tips it gives are genuinely unhelpful - like asking for more exposition and sensory details on a scene that's only 200 words, or suggesting "showing, not telling" on a subject I never brought up in the story. Trying to contact anyone to give feedback is another level of hell, where I ran circles around a user-hostile UI until I settled for 'Help' information that doesn't answer any questions. I tried bringing up the peer review issue in a forum, where a mentor answered who clearly didn't understand the issue, and of course I can't reply to them to clarify. All that said and a whole lot more unsaid, the course material is great. I genuinely enjoyed that, but I get nothing from the assignments if I'm not getting accurate feedback. It's either peer review that isn't held to any standard, or AI LLM garbage that's more demotivating than helpful. It feels like being trapped in a game where I'm not sure who's real or if anything I do matters.
