Review of eventbrite

Eventbrite the worst thing out there

Eventbrite the worst thing out there. i reserve tickets for events. i long on to the portal, the ticket is there - but no hyperlink to join the meeting. This happens all the time with eventbrite I try their "help" - it just tells you how to get to the tiicket - but what is the point if the ticket does nothing? Absolute rubbish.

Review of dsw

Always a great experience with DSW

Always a great experience with DSW. Easy store locations here in NYC, easy online orders and pick up (great variety of all kinds of shoes for all season, bags, stockings, socks and a lot of other useful seasonal stuff near check out). Also easy returns if necessary. I always find great variety of all brands that end up being worth it (even brands by JLO & Jessica Simpson new releases on market). Last bought an Anne Klein bag as well, that turned out really beautiful at a pretty good steal I would say, looking at the nicely done finishes of the bag.

Just recently experienced my personal…

Just recently experienced my personal information being comprised with AT&T data breach and then received an email 4/22/24 regarding internet service going up $5 but in order to get a discount of $5 off they are offering auto pay with a credit or debit card. How disappointing is that now AT&T wants you to trust them with your credit/debit card information after the data breach. I called customer care(loyalty dept) to get help and the representative was very friendly and helpful but wasn't able to offer any discounts or promotions. Then the representative contacted not only one supervisor but 2 and the responses from them were not great and they were not willing to help or bend. AT&T is not willing to go above and beyond for there loyal customers that have been with them since 2011. I am appalled at the type of customer service that is offered especially during a time where customers personal information was comprised. AT&T do not care about there customers and should definitely get rid of the loyalty department that is not so loyal. I will be moving my services. Will not continue to pay a company with my hard earned dollars that do not value me especially in this day in time.

There is no hope that AT&T will…

There is no hope that AT&T will improve. I have been a customer for 40 plus years. Each year for the last 15-20 they have gotten worst and worst. They lie. Often. I had 1. cell service, 2. internet, 3. TV ( Uverse and Direct TV), 4. home alarm Digital Life, 5. Landline. I have gotten rid of 2, 3 and 4. Soon 1. They use your address to limit finding better prices. The internet drops at night constantly. It takes an hour to battle a computer to speak to a live person. I am still due to a refund. I had paid for internet in advance, canceled and after 2 months informed no refund. Hence - thief. They had repaired a phoneline for my landline. Forgot to bury wire. Took about 18 months to resolve. There is no way to contact anyone in management. This company just sucks. Period. Soon I will be fully devoid of them.

Unsolicited emails

Just got an email to a secondary google account that I have a fake name attached to asking if I was the "Hank Green" who authored a paper in their system with the option to claim it. I can't recall ever using the site but cold emailing random gmail accounts to link them to peoples' papers with no identity verification is bizarre. I'd also like to point out that my email address is rude and the idea of someone writing a paper on what sounded like a serious topic while having the handle made me giggle. But anyway, bad site, creepy, reeks of phish, and Forbes pointed out they're a for-profit that nabbed the domain before the 2001 .edu requirements happened, aka not a real .edu site. Enjoy!

Review of mcafee

Catalogue of errors

I have had a nightmare with McAfee. My subscription was due for renewal, and after looking at their website I realised that I was paying for 10 devices, when I only need 2. I phoned them and after waiting for over 20 mins managed to speak to someone who changed my subscription to one that covered 3 devices. So far OK.A few days later I noticed that they had taken 2 payments from my credit card – one for the more expensive option I had cancelled (and was therefore taken fraudulently) and another payment for the 2nd cheaper option. Incidentally both subscriptions were taken before the renewal date. I phoned them, again having to wait over 20 minutes for an agent to be available. They said I had 2 accounts (as if it was my fault), but agreed to refund the subscription they should not have taken, which they have. I said I was not happy that this had happened and asked to speak to someone senior – they said no-one was available but that someone would call me back – no one has called me back. I can only assume that they don’t care about their customers.Today, I logged into my PC to be confronted with a pop-up saying my McAfee had expired and I was no longer protected. Again I phoned them and had to wait ages for someone to answer. They told me it was my fault because I had not reinstalled McAfee. No one had told me I had to do this and I was given no instructions on how to do it. After getting very angry with them on the phone they transferred me to someone in support who has, I think, sorted it.I am not at all happy with the customer service I have received from McAfee, and when this subscription expires will be looking at alternative suppliers.I am updating this because the saga continues. Today I received an email from them saying that my subscription is about to expire, despite my having renewed it to December 2023 and paid for the privilege. Once again had to phone them, hung on for ages before getting through to someone, who said don't worry that email relates to your old subscription. I just don't trust this company at all.

Adobe products are expensive compared to counterparts and also have a high learning curve to achieve what cheaper and more user friendly software/s can achieve. Express is a step in the right direction but still not up to par.

Review of deepl

Deepl used to be superior to google…

Deepl used to be superior to google translate, but they have contantly chipped away at the character count: first it was 5K, they reduced it to 3K, now reduced it to 1.5K. Sure you can use 5K at a time, but this means giving away your details (create an account, etc.) and being constantly monitored and your input going to God-know-where and to be sold to God-knows-what-carefully-selected-business-partners. Can I be bothered to create an account and then log in, when every now and then all I need is just to get the meaning of more than a couple of paragraphs? Not really, google translate works fine.re. deepl (rarely, but still), the results contain some stunning mistranslations, so I wouldn't be using deepl for languages I know absolutely nothing about. There used to be a way to correct (report) those mistranslations (crowdsourcing) but I don't think they register anywhere, seems it's like spitting against the wind (or against the algorithms). The desktop app is a jaggernaut, when all it does is repeat what browser access does. The app DID have some practical use, accessing translation in any program on Windows (likewise, android variant). This worked very well - for a day. Then it stopped (God knows, perhaps I pressed some obscure key combination by mistake?!) and reinstalling it didn't help. It still didn't work, so I chucked it out, same with android variant. No way to search for solutions online, no support, no responses, no suggestions, nothing. And then, when you think: 'well, you get what you pay for! - i.e. pay nothing, get nothing, you read comments from people who pay for this service and complain about EXACTLY the same issues, i.e. no support when things go wrong. Why bother then, when I can still get 5K of text from google translate without all this faff, and frankly, it's good enough. In fact, where google translate falls short, deepl is better, and - strangely enough - vice versa. But to get the meaning, I'm not going to create an account and give up more data than I do with google translate.
