Review of freecodecamp
The overall experience in terms of learning was fine. I was expecting some more coding challenges. The course instructor Charles Severance (aka Dr. Chuck) seemed like he knows what he's talking about and showed many many examples for better explanations for the topics. I found the book Python for Everybody very helpful and precise throughout. In a nutshell, this course is great for building a basic foundational knowledge on python.

Upgraded to advanced payroll. Eight weeks later still can’t use it to produce payslips. The upgrade hasn’t worked and has caused us major problems. Having to calculate everything manually and now getting warnings from HMRC because we haven’t submitted RTI.

One big pain to try to set up. I could not get past setting up my profile pictures and info. Looks difficult to use and once on there seems like I'd just be preaching to the choir anyway. MeWe is working much better for me as an alternative to Facebook. I had my account for about an hour and got off of it.

The all the E-books they are selling mention it's an Adobe E-reader format, but it isn't always the case it happens that you can only download acsm files which I can't in E reader apps. You will only find out it's an acsm file after you bought the E-book and want to download it.Contacted customer support which called me back saying I am wrong and it is my problem. So bye bye bol.com
Review of bol
I have been using Bol for many years and I always praised them. But not with my last purchase:- first I selected a specific time of the day to get the package delivered- PostNL did not bother to deliver even if I was at home and they sent it to a collection point- called 3 times BOL customer service to help me get my package rather than me spending time to go to a collection point. They gave me all kind of recommendations where I have to do something to get the same product via other means rather than Bol to solve it. What’s the point of paying for Select if I have to resolve on my own an issue for a product that I already paid to have it delivered in a certain window of the day? Not only that, the product was for my son, and now I have to explain to a 11 years old why he can’t get something that I promised as a parent.I get that PostNL had a reason for not delivering, but why do I have to solve the issue rather than Bol?I will cancel my Select and wait for the product to be returned and meantime I will try to find it somewhere else.

Review of parallels
Parallels is amazing. I've had the best performance from Parallels compared to every other solution I've tried, and I've run gamut. There's simply no better solution for running virtual machines on a Mac. I'm currently using it on M1 Mini and, even though it's a preview, it's been solid.
Review of amazon
It's hard to watch their business model erode in real time, but that is unfortunately the case. One, among many specific pieces of feedback is that their "sellers" are roughly 50% fraudulent as of today (4/19/2025). They advertize one thing, send another, then only agree to replace their item if, and only if, you change your review. Amazon is Crapazon, if they will not vet their "sellers" better. I'm formally done with them and this review.

Despite my initial good experience and getting assistance in figuring out what types of content are and aren't allowed so I could be sure to comply, my page just got suspended "due to concerns regarding adult content".For the record, I was selling 3 short stories (1 horror, 2 dreampunk) in my store and none of those had any sexual content, not even implied or fade-to-black.So ehm yeah, this suspension truly came as a complete surprise. So I don't even know what BMK can do to improve, because apparently getting assistance about the content guidelines, following all that was said, and then still getting suspended? 🤷♀️🤷♀️*Updated after receiving the following reply:"According to the guidelines of both our platform and our partners, we are unable to support adult-themed content, including specific genres of literature. This applies to all content regardless of whether it is directly uploaded on our platform or forms part of your broader online presence."So while I was initially told I could not *sell* my novel containing sex scenes but promoting it was fine (and I indeed did not sell it on BMC) just the fact that I have such a book available elsewhere is what got me banned. So unless you use a different penname for your works that have sexual content (apparently doesn't even have to be erotica) I would suggest to stay FAR AWAY from BMC, because getting banned for (legal) content that isn't even on their platform is some next level dystopian censorship.Update #2:Been told their terms changed recently. Turns out, yes, they have, just over a week ago (so after I joined). They did not inform people of this change."Scope of Guidelines[...] Links or references to Buy Me a Coffee from other web pages or profiles containing prohibited content and vice-versa are also subject to these guidelines."
