Review of eBay

eBay was once great, now going bad

eBay was once so great, but I am seriously considering giving up on it because I believe it has turned roguish. I had to return an item recently because it would not fit and I was in touch with the seller the whole time. Our communications were amicable. I will list the problems I experienced in the order that they occurred:1) eBay provided a print out for the return post which had a QR code for Australia Post to scan. It also provided a packing slip for me to include with the item. I took the sealed up package containing the packing slip to the PO and they scanned the QR code on the printout from eBay, which automatically printed out the labels with tracking information. The PO employee stuck on the labels and posted the package. 2) eBay took well over a week before they provided me with any way to tell them I had returned the item. In the meantime they kept sending me urgent reminder messages about the need to return the item. I HAD returned it! I tried to tell them but there was simply no way to do so through eBay.3) After a great deal of time had elapsed, this morning their returns page finally allowed me to click on a link saying I had "Mailed the item". But when I clicked on the link it jumped straight to a tracking page. The tracking number that they were displaying was an entirely different number to the one that the post office had printed on the return label. The PO had printed the label directly from eBay's QR code and they gave me a receipt that clearly displayed the number. It was the tracking number that eBay had provided, yet it was different to the one they were now showing for the item! So once again, eBay kept telling me to return the item and I had no way to contact them about it. Their help and support links were useless. Nothing but dead end loops.4) Earlier that day I heard from the seller that he had been asked by eBay to pay the total cost plus extra postage, which he described as "ridiculous" and more than twice the value of the item. He could not explain why he had to pay so much extra for the postage. I can only presume that eBay were expecting him to pay for the return shipping of my item. He told me this had taken place a few days prior to my contacting him.5) While I am communicating with the seller the tracking page suddenly refreshes to say I have just been given a partial refund of $9:20 and the case is closed. Excuse me, but I had paid $9:66 for the item plus postage amounting to a total of $18.86. The seller had just finished telling me that he had recently paid eBay for a refund on both item and postage. So why should I only receive a partial refund on the item and nothing at all on postage? This can only suggest one thing, that eBay profited from both seller and buyer on what should have been a simple return. It even provided fake information as if to obscure the swindle. eBay also caused unnecessary antagonism between buyer and seller in the process. How many other people are they scamming out of money in this way? I have since been told that eBay is now a totally automated system. If that is the case I can only presume they have rigged the app so that financial transactions must always be to their own advantage. eBay badly needs to bring back human help and support!

Customer service is inexistent

There is no way to contact customer service! How is this possible for such a gigantic company???! Also triggering certain features on my account leads to nothing!
