We are currently dealing with VRBO over a last minute rental. We booked a cabin in Gatlinburg, TN a week before check in. After booking, the property owner called and forced us to have an hour long conversation on all things Gatlinburg (even though we told her we had been there more than 30 times). Once we completed the conversation to her satisfaction, she sent us her contracts to sign. There were lots of unreasonable things required in the contract. All giant red flags so we contacted her and asked to cancel since we did not agree or the terms of the contract. She refused. I explained that had she disclosed these “requirements” on the property listing, I would not have booked but she still refused. VRBO also refused to assist us and lied, saying the contract is available on their page. I checked again, and it is not. We have used VRBO without incident for 20 years. We will never use them again. So beware. They protect the property owner, not the consumer.
