As an art teacher, I loved working with Pinterest. I ‘had’ a very extensive all art library (Painting, sculpture, installation, performance, land art, prehistoric and ethnic art, contemporary dance, scenography, fashion, photography, film, graphic design, illustration, funiture design, architecture, ...), that I worked on for about 2 years. I made this library for art students (also international) who use this intensively. Until I saw this message without any warning when I wanted to log in: "Your account has been suspended". I had previously criticized the fact that Pinterest had censored the work "Action Pants: Genital Panic" (1968) by feminist performance artist VALIE EXPORT. This was labeled as Pornographic imagery by Pinterest. I strongly protested to Pinterest's address, as this image is more like a anti-pornography statement! This work criticized the way women are 'used' in the film industry. Deliberate censoring this type of art, in which the ‘objectified’ image of women is criticized and which confronts men with it, keeps contributing to the maintenance of the denigrating way women are being treated. Where will this kind of censorship end? We can not allow this, because almost all human nude in art can possibly be considered (and misunderstood) as pornographic… But this resulted in my "suspension" (In any case it is the only reason I can think of? I have lodged an appeal twice, but after more than two months I have not received any answers). Pinterest clearly don't accept and can not stand any criticism or rebuttal letter. So the around 40000 images in about 400 boards are gone! I waisted many working hours because I've uploaded most of the pins myself. So if you do not want to experience that all your invested time is waisted, it is better never to use Pinterest!
