I've used LastPass to protect over 200 passwords for the past 4+ years and it works very well for almost everything. It continues to improve over time. On my PC, I use the LastPass extension on Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer with great success. It doesn't work very well on the Microsoft's Edge browser, as it loses connection to the server (though will still log into my websites). On the other browsers, there are a few websites where LastPass won't recognize the login form and add my account info, but otherwise it's been pretty flawless. I've also used the LastPass iOS client on both my phone and iPad with very good success; the biggest problem there is the iOS restriction on pasting information into a web form. But that's not LastPass' fault.I'm a real software junkie, always looking for a better utility, so I regularly look at other tools like this. I think LastPass' value and price is the best for any commercial password management program on the market.I've only tried sharing a password with someone once, and it wanted them to install LastPass on their PC, which was a non-starter.I've never been locked out of my account, as a previous reviewer reported. I don't understand how that could happen unless you forget your master password.
I've been using LastPass for the past two years (If i remember correctly) and i had three occasions when after recovering my Master Password and resetting it, their systems didn't sync my data properly and locked me out of my account (As the new Master Password wouldn't work despite being recently changed). I contacted them but i was greeted with a "We can't change the password or do anything at this point". They don't even take care of their systems and they don't take responsibility for their lack of experience on handling systems.
Overall the best TNO password system (they can't open your blob) with some really nice features and a wide set of 2FA. Even has a next of kin option for passing on your archive in a secure fashion. The free option is great but the premium is well worth the $12USD a year it costs. (and would still be a bargain at 15-20!)
I've used a few different password managers over the years and Lastpass is easily the best.
It allows me to use complex passwords on all the sites I use, so it keeps my information much more secure. I pay for the premium version, so I can use it on my Android phone. This keeps my passowds synced between the PCs I use and my phone.
It has a nice password generator feature too, which I find useful.
Another good feature is the auto-fill, which saves time when filling in online forms - particularly on my phone where it's difficult to type.
Lastpass allows for multifactor authentication and restriction by ip which means that even if your master password is compromised the overall security is maintained.
I haven't experienced any of the problems other reviewers with it logging it you out however I simply used the plugins for all the browsers and you can specify the length of time you would like to remain logged in for.
It's so good. I implemented at the company I work for.
(I have a paid account for mobile access).
Lastpass started continually logging me out. I googled the problem and tried the fixes recommended by them. Nothing worked. I emailed saying I'd tried the fixes but all I got back was a cut and paste wording with a link to the same fixes. Thought they would have been better than that.
When this automatic password management add-on works properly, it's a great tool.
However, I often (half the time?) find that I have to manually open the LastPass page, sign in to my account and then manually look up the User Name and Password for the Web page I'm tyring to sign in to. Even after I have gone through this process with one site, I have to do it for every other site until I turn off my computer. When I turn it on again and open my browser, I may or may not have to do it all again, or LastPass might work automatically again.
In short, there is no consistency in how LastPass works.
