I wanted to move away from supporting Amazon and Kindle so started looking for a better alternative. The Kobo store provides a great selection of ebooks and audiobooks for purchase. I also appreciate that Kobo still allows for download of purchased books to my computer so that I can back them up. Amazon has disabled this feature for books purchased from the Kindle store. This could be an issue as they have removed books from the Kindle library that I purchased so I was lucky to have a backup at the time. I also purchased a Kobo Clara Colour and love it. It has the same screen size as a Kindle Paperwhite, but in a smaller overall case. I also like the color covers and graphic novels. Along with my Kobo purchases, I obtain ebooks from indie authors through BookFunnel that allow me to send my books directly to my Kobo library or to save to my library on my computer. I use Calibre to manage my entire ebook collection and my Kobo Clara Colour syncs directly with Calibre to load books I've obtained from other sources. This is a great feature!Overall, I am very happy with my decision to move to Kobo over Amazon for my digital reading/listening needs. The Kobo Clara Colour is a great e-reader and the Kobo Store is much more user / customer friendly than the alternatives!
