Making the switch from Kindle to Kobo Libra Colour has been great overall.Pros: • Love being out of the Amazon ecosystem. Kobo offers lots of ebook deals. • I’ve had no trouble finding the titles I want to read. • The look and feel of the Kobo Libra Colour is beautiful sleek and well-designed.Cons: • The biggest letdown is the pen. It’s not intuitive. Writing notes is laggy, highlights pop up when I’m trying to write, and it doesn’t feel smooth or responsive. Notes don’t stay visible—they turn into shortcuts you have to pull up later. • The magnetic attachment for the pen feels awkward, it doesn’t sit flush or straight. • I’ve had issues with the device not remembering where I left off in a book. • Footnotes take you to the index but don’t return you to your reading spot, which breaks the flow. • I haven’t figured out how to use Libby or Hoopla with Kobo yet. With rising costs, I’m relying more on the library, and right now I’m still using my Kindle for that.Bottom line: If you’re looking to leave Amazon, Kobo is a solid alternative but it’s not perfect.
