I was a dedicated seller on Etsy, pouring my time, creativity, and passion into building multiple shops. I even achieved Star Seller status—a badge that, while seemingly symbolic, felt like recognition for my hard work. Then everything came crashing down. Etsy suspended every single shop I owned and opened, leaving me devastated and without answers.It all started when I opened a bookstore on Etsy. A customer, who I initially thought was genuine, opened a case claiming she never received her books. This was baffling, considering she had left glowing reviews with pictures, praising the books and expressing how much she loved them. She even confirmed in chat messages that they had arrived. But none of that mattered. The moment a case was opened, Etsy didn’t allow me to defend myself. Their policy is to side with the customer, no questions asked. Without investigating or giving me a chance to provide evidence, they suspended my shop and informed me that I was permanently banned from selling on Etsy or opening new stores.As if that wasn’t enough, Etsy then began shutting down all my other shops, one by one, without providing any explanation. I was left in shock. Reaching out for help was a nightmare. Emails and support tickets went unanswered. Etsy doesn’t have a phone number for customer service—perhaps for the best, considering how many frustrated sellers they’ve wronged.I’ve lost so much—time, money, and the trust I once had in a platform I worked so hard to succeed on. It’s not just me; countless sellers who rely on Etsy to sustain their small businesses have been treated unfairly. We are left in the dark, powerless, and burdened with the fallout of policies that fail to protect us. Etsy owes me—and other sellers—big time for the emotional and financial damage they’ve caused. What happened to me was unjust, and it’s time for change.
