While the editorial content of The Economist is of a very high standard, the infrastructure surrounding subscriptions and delivery is an absolute mess.My print subscription started 3 months ago, but so far NO issue has managed to be delivered even remotely close to the week it covers. Even had 3 magazines arrive together on the same day, 2 weeks after the newest of issues. The primary reason seems to be that someone has made the baffling decision of having deliveries taking place via ordinary postal mail. From a neighbouring country! I do not live on a remote island or anything like that. I live centrally in capital city, so there is no excuse for not being able to deliver the magazine on time. After writing back and forth with customer service for 2 months, the issue appears nowhere nearer being resolved. Responses from customer service are typically templated and any questions are mostly ignored. After asking what kind of compensation my subscription would be credited with for the complete failure to deliver on-time, I was "graciously" offered a non-descript discount on my next subscription period.
