Ok, I initially wrote a bad review for coursera. What I discovered was that the platform is counterintuitive. If you have an issue go to google and type in your issue, mine was “cancelled” so i typed in “coursera cancelled” and it brought up their help and support forums with previous answers, i found the answer there. If you are cancelled and already enrolled simply go into the course and click on a graded assignment. If its locked it will show you your options. But you have to go click on the submit button. So you have to fill in the assignment requirements first then attempt to submit, it says you cannot complete unless you pay X___amount. So a popup will come up inside there… it did for me at least. Try using their help forums… and go to coursera dot support forums… it’s very hard to find!! I’m us based here. Initially was a great experience but around mid june of 2024 I began experiencing issues with the platform right when i was almost finished with several courses in the specialization. First of all my work is being copied by other users and in one instance the platform flagged me as a fraud. I then resubmitted and had no issues. I have already obtained experience in the field but i need credentials to obtain a proper job and can not afford expensive schooling or training right now. I paid for my specialization and by the way nowhere on the platform does it provide prices or financial info for what i am paying for. They provided a price initially which i am now paying for monthly but at this point there is nothing to reference… smart coursera. What really sticks is that I am in the final module 98% done and they locked it. They then proceeded to raise the price from $50 to $80. and they tried to get me to sign up for a plus account. First it was pay only $1 then I received a marketing ad with a price with an inactive link so i could not click on it. So since i needed to submit my work on time to pass I did a free trial of plus as they are not accepting our payment. I am in a very intensive module and it’s important to submit on time or i can lose out to obtaining my credentials.Secondly, i am using the coursera ios app on my spouse’s phone because I recently was without one and finally got a new one. So the payment goes through his “iTunes” account and it’s impossible to switch it. I have updated my payment on the desktop platform and again tried through ios. The payment repeatedly failed. So we added more money to the itunes account and coursera proceeded to cancel my subscription and put me in audit mode. But there isn’t much transparency on my end. I can’t see why its in audit mode or if it means that there is a payment structure set up to begin again in the next billing cycle. I mean there is no option to pay now which is ludicrous and all it shows is the payment info entered nothing else. It says renew subscription and cancelled.This literally will help my unemployed family not have to live in poverty as we are running out of food and don’t receive unemployment. We have nothing. I actually went without gas this past week or two due to adding $50 for coursera which they did not accept.Therefore I am on a free trial plus subscription and had to cancel it, they offered me 50% off. I accepted but payment is now due july 2 which is past my due dates?? And i saw this information briefy show up on the site but then it disappeared. So I don’t know how to plan or what to expect. My grades are 97% and 100% and my work is professional level, i simply need my specialization certificate so Cal Arts will recognize it for the extended studies cert and i can also use it to enter into an mfa. I wouldn’t be on coursera if we weren’t laid off … i would be at parsons in person most likely paying thousands for a few courses. At this stage it seems that the learning platforms seem to all use similar deceptive billing methods and offer very little control to the user nor do they offer much transparency to the user. They favor the companies they partner with it seems. But i’m tired of being made to feel useless and at this point i will simply no longer invest my time or money into these types of products. I’d also like to know what components of the platform are outsourced and if they are India based as my spouse speaks fluent hindi… we did this with adobe as the person on the phone was indian and we found it to be very helpful in conflict resolution.
