They charged me $18.99 for a 'screening fee' in August of 2024. I want to cancel my services and they won't refund me for the remaining 5 months I won't be using Care.com for. Their website on my web browser is garbage. It is glitchy and unless you are paying them on a monthly basis, you can't share your personal information with anyone in their messenger. You get x's (i.e. xxx-xxx-xxxx). If you want to show up in the feed/search, you have to pay a monthly fee. They don't allow you to respond to reviews. Their process for handling bullies is inadequate. To be honest, it doesn't appear to me that they want to protect business owners AND clients. They are a one-sided platform. As far as I could see, there wasn't any spam like there was on sittercity.com, so that's good. I'm just so glad I didn't waste more $ and time on a platform that is set-up to benefit one party more than another. The 'care' in care.com ought to be icareabout$.com because in terms of caring about both the small business and client/potential client, it is really imbalanced. I have to protect myself, and if they don't see that or care, I most certainly won't do business with them and I will let other people know what they are getting themselves into.Etsy and Google Maps allow for responses to reviews. It creates a two-sided situation, where each person can share their perspective of what happened. When a professional psychologist retaliates against you because you decided she wasn't a good fit for your business needs after giving her a FREE estimate, and writes you a poor review for not giving her what she wanted, that is quite unfair. I devoted my time and effort to a potential client who turned out to be a bully. Care.com disallowed me from explaining what happened in my description about what I do, which I was doing to explain myself since I couldn't write a response to this woman's ill-intended review. If Care.com doesn't want to create a fair plane for everyone, I don't want to have anything to do with them. Not to mention, they used to be free. Now, they charge a yearly screening fee and a monthly membership fee (if you actually want to find work). The app works better than the website, but their website should work properly on any web browser. That is my opinion.
