I’ve been a loyal customer of this booking.com for years — long enough to have earned their so-called Level 3 Genius status. Over time, I trusted them with numerous bookings, recommending the platform to friends and family alike. But when it truly mattered — for my honeymoon — they failed me in the most appalling way imaginable.Weeks ahead of our trip, I booked a hotel in Hurghada, Egypt via their platform through one of their “trusted” third-party Restel S.A. (partner). Given the importance of this trip, I proactively reached out to both the booking.com and the Restel S.A. several times. Each time, I was met with vague assurances and, frankly, a tone that made me feel like a nuisance for asking for simple reconfirmation.I even went so far as to contact the hotel directly — at my own expense — only to be told they had no record of any booking in my name. Despite raising this red flag days before we were due to arrive, the booking.com repeatedly insisted everything was confirmed.Then, in a move that can only be described as utterly disgraceful, they cancelled the booking via email the night before our scheduled check-in. No apology. No explanation. No rebooking support. We were left scrambling to find last-minute accommodation during what should have been a relaxing and joyful trip.This wasn’t just poor customer service — it was a complete abandonment of responsibility. What’s worse is how blasé they were about it, as if ruining someone’s honeymoon is a minor inconvenience.I’m sharing this as a caution to others: this booking.com has become a bloated, money-grabbing monopoly that no longer values its customers, no matter how long you've been with them or how important your booking is. I urge others to reconsider using this platform — especially for anything remotely important. They are happy to take your money, but when things go wrong, you’re on your own.Absolutely shambolic. Avoid at all costs.
