American Express is not the world-class company that it once was. Just one of the many examples is.... In late 2024, we experienced a financial hardship, and opted to enter the AmEx Financial Relief program which reduces interest, and sets a flat payment to help you get back on track. We entered the program on or before the date that our payment would have been 30-days late. They stated that because we entered the program, they would suppress reporting to the credit bureaus. Not only did they report that payment as 30-days late, they did the same thing for the following 4 months. Not having at least "paid as agreed" for the subsequent month is impossible, as the Financial Relief Program requires automatic deductions. Upon contacting both American Express and the bureaus multiple times, I was told that the "late" indications would not be corrected. This is resulting in a falsely low credit score which has caused increased interest and costs on other credit lines, and made it virtually impossible to get a consolidation loan so that we can pay everything off sooner. I will have to file a lawsuit in order to get this matter solved, and they just don't care.
