I wanted to purchase quite an expensive subwoofer but noticed that the Amazon price - from a third party seller - was £50 more than that seller’s online shop.I contacted Amazon via Livechat and was told to purchase the item and that the £50 would be refunded to my gift card balance within 12-24 hours. After this time had expired with no refund appearing, I contacted customer service who told me that the employee had acted incorrectly, that Amazon never price match and that I would not receive the promised refund. I was offered a total refund if I returned the product. Now: I went ahead with the purchase of this item on the express condition that the £50 price difference would be refunded. Perhaps the employee was at fault but this is not my concern. There was a straightforward contractual agreement here which Amazon have breached.
