Review of vrbo
We booked a vrbo and the owner cancelled the day before. We were not notified and were not even aware until we were driving from our previous destination looking for the address of the vrbo, just to find out he had cancelled. After hours and hours of calling and speaking with incompetent people nothing was resolved. We had to pay in full in advance to secure the property and cancelation was not an option on our end but what vrbo fails to tell you is the host can cancel the second he gets a better offer. Which leaves you stranded in a place halfway across the country with nowhere to stay. Then, the incompetent customer service representative wanted us to find a place to stay and pay for it and then send in the invoice and they would consider reimbursing us, consider. Is this company for real. We were going to a 3 day concert and there was not one hotel available in the city which is why we booked the vrbo 6 months prior. I kept asking to speak to someone above them and apparently there is no one in higher management of this company. Nothing was ever resolved and I was so over dealing with the complete incompetency of this company I just hung up. Honestly I have never been so frustrated and it is even more frustrating that they clearly pay for all of their horrible reviews to not show up when you google vrbo. I truly do not know how this company is still in business screwing people over the way they do. I will never use vrbo again and I highly recommend anyone considering it to use another company, if they actually want to a place to stay that is.
Review of vrbo
I booked an apartment in Portland Maine USA only to have my stay cancelled within a day. They were still listing an apartment that was not supposed to be listed as the owner was in Japan. They have been advertising her listing for the 2 YEARS since she has been in Japan. What a joke this company is!!! I will never use them again!

I recently experienced a very upsetting incident. On October 16th, I wanted to buy a new iPhone for my daughter, but the price was too high, so I opted to purchase a renewed iphone 14 from a third-party seller on Amazon called Perfect Preowned. Previously, even though I’d purchased used phones through Amazon, those in "Excellent Condition" were of decent quality, almost like new. Finally, on October 18th, the phone arrived, and as I unboxed it, I noticed some issues. When held up to the light, scratches were visible on the front, and the front speaker was full of dust and dirty things. I immediately messaged the seller, and they asked me to send photos. After sending the photos, they confirmed the return process.Even though it was past 6 pm and the next day was a Saturday, I found an open post office and returned the product. A few days later, the seller informed me they’d received the return but said there was damage caused by impact. They sent one low-resolution photo, and to my surprise, it showed the speaker area I had originally pointed out due to dirt. I explained that there was no such damage when I returned the item, but the next day, the seller replied that the damage was severe enough to affect the motherboard and therefore they couldn’t offer a full refund.Shocked and frustrated, I filed an Amazon A-to-Z Claim and submitted all the evidence I had. I requested the seller provide photos or any materials showing the product's condition when they first received it. However, the only image they provided was the blurry one, claiming they later had it inspected by a third-party inspection company. They then sent me photos and a report from this third-party inspection.Today, I realized what could have happened: the seller likely damaged the product after receiving it and then used a report from their regular inspection partner to support their case. This way, they could easily keep half of the $899 refund. Think about it! If I had damaged the phone and returned it without saying anything, wouldn't the seller have immediately noticed the issue? Why would I do such a stupid thing and return a clearly damaged product? I believe no one does it. Moreover, if I had damaged it, wouldn’t it have made sense for me to say something like the seller did—claiming it arrived with the damage?I want to share this advice with everyone: when purchasing high-value items like cell phones on Amazon and facing issues, make sure to record every step of the packaging and return process, preferably at the post office, to safely record through video and document the return. I repeatedly requested the seller to provide various photos of the product from different angles at the time of unboxing. Their lack of such evidence implies that they could do anything to the product before submitting it to a third-party inspection.I plan to seek assistance from the ACCC and other consumer rights organizations and spread my story widely to prevent such unfair experiences from happening to others.
