Booked a lovely looking apartment via Vrbo for a weekend away for my daughters birthday. We took her friend and ended up in a dark dank, filthy apartment that stank of cigarette smoke. Spoke to the host and they weren't interested so I had to book an alternative apartment for the second night as the blood stained mattress, damaged front door lock and no electricity pushed me over the edge. I took photos and sent the to vrbo and they said they couldn't open them, so I sent them again. They said they still couldn't open them, so I sent them as a jpeg. Due to no response I contacted them and they told me they couldn't open the photos and the host said the issue had been resolved. I said it hadn't and I wanted it looked at so I sent the photos again. They said they had received the first 5, so I sent all the rest. Still no response. A week later, they said they couldn't open the photos and the case was closed. They offered no advice on what format to send them in or how to proceed before closing the case for the second time. Not only did it ruin my daughters birthday, I ended up spending double the money as the flat was not fit or safe to stay in. The apartment is still on their website so I would recommend u avoid flat 6 tavistock place, sunderland uk as they will put you in flat 5 and it an absolute disgrace. I would also recommend you avoid booking with vrbo as they do not care or support customers. My daughter is disabled and had a dreadful weekend thanks to this combination
