I was planning a trip to Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia. I spent many hours looking at options on Vbro (I had never heard of them before) and comparing prices for our budget. I used the "contact host" option on the web listing to ask about parking. The next day I received an email from Vbro requesting immediate payment of $1,366.00 AUD - the "total price" listed on the website for the unit was $929.00, no mention that this was USD. I tried to respond to the email but is was a "no reply" address - not at all helpful. I sent the host another email with my complaint thinking Vbro would see it - but no - I received another email the next day saying my payment was overdue. I never made a booking. Air BnB in Australia were recently fined $15m for not stating their prices were in USD, they also have to pay $15m in compensation to some 63,000 customers, and also pay $400,000 in court costs
