VRBO lied about a charge

When I booked a couple of cabins in Georgia and Tennessee, the site specifically said, "You will not be charged yet." That's an exact quote. And yet I was charged immediately. I don't mind so much that I was charged, it's the fact that they lied that makes me give them a one-star review. Addendum: today--six days after I made my reservations--I received an email inviting me to "Complete booking." I already completed the booking, paid more than half of the cost, and received confirmation from the owners. So what's the "Complete booking" request about? It's pretty clear that VRBO has some communication issues.
