Venmo at one point was the goat but my goodness easily and by far the worst and most unprofessional money transfer app there is. How are you a finance app you have no protections for customers or merchants who do as they are supposed to do to protect themselves; their business, and their hard earned money. That is totally unfair and Venmo needs to address that. Longtime customer had both a personal and business profile but I have since opted to stop using them. Okay, so this is what happened. I had a customer for a dog walk/boarding who was honestly sketchy from the start but I stupidly gave her the benefit of the doubt. She paid for a rather long dog sitting, in full via venmo. Venmo is trying to get over on me even though I have full documented proof that the customer liked the service, and made no complaints during the service, and only wanted to make a complaint after suddenly changing her travel plans and demanding without pay that I keep her dog beyond the agreed time. Venmo spent 3 months supposedly investigating this case to tell me that there’s nothing they could do. I was scammed by this woman because she reported the charge as not as described when venmo has the proof otherwise photos; texts, receipts, proof off boarding and walking, and all. This woman only disputed the charge after I declined to accept her extension demand. Venmo is letting her get away with this and appears to support scammers on their platform. Small businesses definitely should exercise caution using this all because they have zero safeguards for merchants who do their job, document everything / etc. It's not worth the hassle you will lose significant amounts of money messing with this app.
