This company all too well knows that there are scammers using this service and DOESNT DO ANYTHING to remove them despite victims REPORTING the user name and occurrence. I reported a scam of $200 from my Venmo directly to customer service and I was basically told that I'm s*** out of luck and to f*** off. The customer service department absolutely sucks. They are beyond unhelpful, understanding and supportive, siding with the scammer by telling the victim that we don't have another option and it's "out of Venmos hands" regardless of sharing the profile that did the scamming. I asked customer service to remove a profile after being scammed. They didn't. I then took to my bank to file a dispute of which my bank temporarily put $200 into my account while this request was processing. I found out today that they had to remove it on the basis of "it is more or less something Venmo requires me to resolve with the SCAMMER." How clueless is Venmo? Or are they just totally choosing to turn a blind eye to the issues going on under their services? Because I'm not sure in what world a scammer would actually want to resolve things with the victim after just having stolen their money????? When I told Venmo I'd be filing a dispute with my bank, they told me that I had every right to, but that they recommend I'd call law enforcement instead (yeah because law enforcement has time to deal with this) otherwise if my bank is successful in filing the dispute, Venmo apparently has every right to charge my profile an additional $200 to make up for their lost time. What a disgusting way to treat your loyal users.Don't even get me started about deleting your profile - there isn't a clear cut way or instructions to follow. You need to contact customer service again to request to have your profiles removed. Which I did. And I removed the card on file and chopped it up afterward. There aren't even words to describe how AWFUL this service is. But I 10/10 do not recommend and strongly encourage anyone else to stop using it. Venmo does NOT care about their customers. They side with scammers. End of story.
