Decided to cancel after 2.5 months into…

Decided to cancel after 2.5 months into a 3 months for £1 deal. The deal was very attractive and the website and content is good - I just didn't use it enough to justify going onto a regular subscription, so decided to cancel.To my surprise, you need to phone up to cancel.At this moment, I've been on hold for 12 minutes on the dedicated 'cancellation' option.That's given me enough time to browse around this site for other peoples experience and write this review. Just hit 13 minutes... let's see if I'm able to unsubscribe today.** update to this post, pending moderation. I've just hit 23 minutes on hold to try and cancel and still no answer. This was using option '3' which is apparently dedicated for cancellation. Further, I was told there was three people in front of me in the queue. I dread to think how many operators there are if it takes more than 24 minutes for my call to be handled.** update no.2 - at 31 minutes, I got click.... followed but another click and my call was dropped. Pretty much doesn't get more difficult than that to unsubscribe.** update no.3 I called back, much better experience 2nd time. My call was answered after about 4 or 5 minutes. Helpful person, took me through what is available. Actually, I hadn't realised, but I'd finished the 3 months for £1 pound offer and had been charged something like £27.50 for a full digital subscription. They offered to convert this payment to four or so months of 'Digital Lite' or similar - which wasn't a bad idea, since I'd paid the money already. However, I politely declined and they proceeded to cancel my subscription for me. The call took about 10 minutes and said they'd confirm by email.The main reason I didn't stretch out my payment to cover a longer period of Digital Lite - was due to the earlier experience trying to get through to cancel subscription. Way too hard. So, I'm cancelled. That said, the promised email confirmation hasn't arrived yet.
