In addition to a complete lack of proof reading and mis-titled pieces we now have destruction of the puzzles. A shouty banner page announces that Telegraph puzzles will leave the online paper for a new section. It does not say why.The links therein do not work but if you track down the new puzzle section by the several steps needed, you will find the simple, well proportioned crossword pages replaced by a fiddly mix of dangling banners, tiny grid in which letters sit awry, useless ‘clue box’ that is not big enough to show a clue, numerous ‘option menus’, a smaller keyboard and annoying red stripes. To move to the next puzzle you will have to retreat and dive in again. Why change a simple, traditional look and disconnect readers from old friends? Are you chasing the ‘yoof’ of today like everyone else? Why not spend the time and money on something necessary such as proofreading the increasing number of typographical and other errors in the body of the paper?Must one of the last bastions fall?
