Absolutely shameful behaviour - charged out of the blue and when I noticed the monthly expense went onto My Account where it says you can cancel online by clicking 'Manage my details'. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE, you have to call up and FIGHT with them to get it cancelled. I was very cordial at the start asking straight off the bat to cancel my subscription. In reply, they didn't listen and instead tried to give me so many discounts etc every time I re-iterated that I just wanted to cancel. After that, they even went as far as to say "do you really want to give it up, I can see that you've been reading articles xxx quite a bit" - it felt almost gas-lighty! It shouldn't matter what the reason is... and I shouldn't have to ask 5 times for it to be canceled. I ended up having to tell them that if they didn't let me cancel it I was going to report them to the ombudsman (which I'm still tempted to do). Absolutely outrageous that a well-known paper like this doesn't have a function to let you cancel online - requiring you to do so over the phone during your work hours is just absurd and clearly a tactic to disincentive people to unsubscribe (they got a couple of months extra out of me as a result because I kept on forgetting to call!). I felt so strongly that this is not OK that it drove me immediately to leave this review - I hadn't ever given one on Trustpilot! Absolutely incensed.
