My son bought me a magic chef dryer the end of January this year because I was in a very bad relationship that was mentally, physically and emotionally abusive because I was looking and waiting for my way out. My son took it to the storage unit he rented for me and brought me the receipt from Target because the storage units where my unit was, was being broken into nightly and he knew I would hold on to the receipt. Everything was as good as it could be until the early morning hours of February 27, 2024 when things got ugly and I ended up with 18 stitches above my left eye. I got out of the house and ran down the road when luckily a friend of mine was coming up the road, said she just had a feeling and couldn't sleep until she checked on me. My friend took me to the hospital and got me sewed up then to the court house to get a domestic violence protection order that I got. I finally got an apartment in March and things started falling in place slowly. I finally got the dryer to my apartment and it worked great for the first couple times then it would shut off after five minutes and wouldn't dry clothes. Today I called target and they asked for the receipt and some other information that I don't have. I never went back to that house out of fear for my life and I lost everything. List my clothes, shoes, personal items, items that were my deceased mothers. I lost it all !! So target sent me an email telling me they are sorry but cannot do anything without my receipt. I think it's crazy asking me to go get the receipt after I said in the email I got 18 stitches above my left eye that night and I fear for my life before they would do anything about a portable dryer I paid $399.00 for.
