Spotify, in 2024, are going to stop paying low stream, under 1000 streams per year, per track, small, and upcoming artists of their stream earnings and are going to give that money, which Spotify estimate is billions of dollars, to richer artists who havent earned those streams. Their excuse is that some royalties do not reach the artist due to distributor and bank charges. This is completely wrong and immoral and is a way of Spotify making themselves look good to bigger artists by paying them more at no expense to Spotify. It's also none of Spotify's business to decide how artists control their end earnings. Many small artists do gladly and needily receive their small royalty payments, and being as Spotify state that they do not know how much money artists actually earn after distributor costs etc, it is complete BS! I would encourage Big and Small artists to make their objections known to Spotify and to instruct their distributors to remove all their songs, tracks etc from Spotify if they implement this change and I would also encourage end users to close their Spotify accounts and not use the service and switch to a different streaming platform who will pay every artist fairly. This policy is plain wrong and unfair.
