Know The Terms of Service Agreenment!! Customer service is horrid at Shutterstock. Tried to cancel my "Annual" plan that boasts you can cancel at any time and was told that there would be a $60 USD fee. Told them that wouldn't be happening and they created a ticket to deal with the issue that would take 2-3 business days. Called their 1866 number (same day) and spoke with another representative who also stated that there was a cancellation fee of $60 USD. When I told them again that I would not be paying and asked to speak to a manager she replied that it would take 48 hrs to get a call back. I said I would like that call back to happen today and did she ever get snarky! SO after she submitted the call back and we hung up I started wondering - I dont remember seeing a cancellation policy when I signed up. I went digging through the terms of service. THERE IS NO SECTION THAT SPEAKS TO THEM BEING ABLE TO CHARGE YOU A CANCELLATION FEE!Called back a 3rd time (same day) - This girl said the fee was now $40 USD! When I said I will not be paying because I didn't agree to a cancellation policy when I accepted to Terms of Agreenment and it is not listed in any of their legal documents she tried to tell me it was. I was reading through it for the 7th time while we were talking. She even offered to send me an email with the document to which I said dont bother I'm already looking at it. After a pretty heated conversation and confirmation - I was refunded 2 months worth of fees and so far no cancellation fee has been charged to my account. Read your terms of service and dont give up! They'll argue but know that if it's not in the terms of service they have no grounds to enforce the cancellation policy!
