After seeing all the problems with cruise ships being infected and quarantined as sea I was worried about our upcoming Royal Caribbean cruise in June. When all of the world’s health organization advised that whatever you do, “do not get on a cruise ship” due to the Covid19 pandemic. I have underlying health issues and I care for my 83 your old mother who has several underlying health conditions. I could not take a chance of contracting Covid19 myself and taking it back to infect her, or be quarantined at sea or elsewhere, with no one to care for her for an extended period. I asked if they would extend to final payment date as I didn’t want to cancel the cruise but couldn’t risk exposure. I was told no they would not extend the date and I needed to cancel in order to receive a full refund. I reconfirmed prior to cancellation that I would receive a full refund on my credit card if I cancelled. I was told yes I would get a full refund, plus pre-paid excursions within five days. I was relieved to say the least. After two weeks and no refund, I was told there is a delay in refunds due to the high volume. I am now being told I will not be getting a refund at all. All those in my group are getting refunds even though they did not cancel by the due date. I would not have cancelled except for the Covid19 pandemic and warnings from the government health organizations. I have made several calls to my agent and Royal Caribbean with no results. RC completely has been unresponsive and my travel agent contends they have received no funds from RC and are now also being told I will get no refunds. Travel Agent says she is appealing to “Customer Resolutions” and I am awaiting a verdict. I am new to cruising and had no idea it had such poor customer service/communication and would be so unresponsive their customers during a global pandemic. I am wondering if there is something else I can get help with this matter?
