I am a long-time, devoted user of Pinterest, having been active for over nine years. Recently, my account was wrongfully deactivated, and despite multiple appeals and active engagement on all of Pinterest's social media platforms, my voice was left ignored. Hundreds of users are echoing my concerns on different platforms like the r/pinterest Reddit page. It is clear that there is a pressing need for change. Pinterest has increasingly relied on AI for its operations, including handling appeals regarding wrongful account bans. There’s been a lack of maintained accountability and competent human support to address these issues. The machine-led decisions are affecting the social media experience of many faithful users, leading to undeserved frustrations. As part of this community, we call upon Pinterest to re-employ real workers to handle appeals of wrongful bans. It's time to replace impersonal AI systems with responsive, effective human mediation. We need adequate, responsive, and human-based service that respects the rights of users and better addresses our concerns. Only by doing this can Pinterest regain our trust and reaffirm its reputation as a user-focused platform.
