In the past I have found Musescore to be unreliable at best. Recently I tried again to pay for the Musescore Pro membership, only to be met with chronic glitches and fraudulent-looking charges. I browsed a few scores but only was able to successfully playback one of them, even though they were all ‘un-official’ scores. The free trial period is advertised as cancel anytime, but downloading a single score will end it. They also do not draw attention to the download limit of one score per day on the free trial period, which is a bit low. During the free trial period I was called multiple times by my bank because Musescore.com had attempted a $0.00 charge. I was ultimately able to download only the one score on the first day of the ‘free trial.’ Musescore.com has long had serious problems with their payment methods, ever since they eliminated the ability to freely download scores (understandable) in favor of the paid membership tier. Now, half a decade later, Musescore has not made their new model workable. Though they have combined Musescore.com and Musescore.org into one website (before they would pass on ALL questions about the suspicious behavior of Musescore.com by saying that their question site was a part of Musescore.org, for software questions alone, while Musescore.com had no Q&A page), made payment necessary (a solid step), and changed the look, it has been over six years since I could reliably download scores from them. I find it perplexing how a ‘company’ with such good writing software has such a dysfunctional online website. If it works for you, reader, great, but here’s my message to those in charge: Get it together or become irrelevant.
