As a business owner dealing with a large volume of coins weekly, my experience with Mercari has been nothing short of a disaster. Here’s why:1. No Warnings or Clear CommunicationI had no idea I violated any policies. Apparently, a family member using my account to make a purchase triggered an issue, but I was never warned or given any prior notice of policy violations. Suddenly, I’m penalized without understanding why.2. Unfair Refund PoliciesOnce you leave a review for an item, it becomes nearly impossible to get a refund, even if the item is counterfeit or doesn’t match the description. In my case, I received a fake coin in a bundle of four and just wanted a refund for that one item. As a numismatist, identifying counterfeits can be difficult, especially for certain coins, and sometimes it’s impossible to verify authenticity within their rigid 72-hour window.3. Customer Service FailureI was told I had until November 22 to report issues, yet customer service refused to honor this and essentially told me there was nothing they could do. Their lack of care for buyers dealing with fraudulent sellers is appalling.4. Protecting ScammersI’ve dealt with multiple counterfeit orders from the same seller, who is scamming others by selling fake Flying Eagle cents. I can’t even leave a review to warn other buyers because of Mercari's restrictions. The seller continues to profit while Mercari does nothing. This app is poorly managed, with dishonest policies that protect scammers while alienating legitimate buyers and sellers. If you’re serious about protecting your money and avoiding counterfeits, stay far away from Mercari. The only good thing I really say is it's a bit simpler than the other platforms but maybe that's the problem I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission
