I have my Internet with Bell Canada for a long time. Not that I like it but nothing else is available where I live.Bell Canada offers free Mcafee virus software and I installed it a few years back,to realize that is is junk and doesn't protect at all. It wasn't user friendly at that time. I removed it and installed better virus software. I changed from Windows to Mac a few years ago and had mac virus protection. I wasn't too impressed with it and decided to download Mcafee again, hopping that it would have improved. Well, it hasn't and I wanted to uninstall it again. The uninstall wouldn't work with any apple software. I manual deleted all files I could find. I cleaned out what ever file I could find and really did a good sweeping. However, I still have the mcafee symbol on my upper bar popping up to tell me that mcafee can't upgrade. I had a few virus check up including my virus program now. I think mcafee has infected my mac with some sort of file that is hiding in my mac probably under some different name. I get scam phone calls telling me that they are from mcafee and that they wanted to check my mac for viruses. Needless to say that I blocked every phone number with phone calls like that. I think mcafee has scammers and hackers infesting their programs all the time with some sort of trojans that can't be traced. I don't know why a company like Bell Canada is including this software, knowing that this is happening, as a free virus check for Customers if mcafee is indeed used by scammers to get into peoples computers. Beware of the free software Bell Canada is offering to you. They may not all be infected, but this has happen to me twice. The first time I had to get a fixmestick to clean out mcafee. I may have to get one this time too.
