Macy's has this Star Reward Program where, for every $1 in purchased merchandise you get a point. At 1,000 points your get a $10 gift card - that's a reward of 1% of your purchases. When merchandise is returned, if you don't have any "loyalty points" they reduce the credit amount due you.For example: I purchased 2 dresses for $71.01 each - a total of $142.02 plus taxes. My Macy's credit card was charged $149.18, which is the correct amount. When I returned the 2 dresses, Macy's reduced the amount of the credit due me by $19.07 for "Loyalty Rewards Returns". This is nearly 15% of the cost of the merchandise. Where the F* do they get off stealing $19.07 from me? If they want to "take away" the points I earned fine, leave me in anegative" point status - I don't really care, but don't steal money from me especially when points/gift cards/Loyalty rewards were not used in the purchase of this merchandise. This has happened to me at least 5 times to the tune of $70. The merchandise I returned did not total $700 - which would be 1% the "reward" they give. Customer service is useless - they are a bunch of pre-programmed nitwits who refer to "automatic" responses instead of resolving the problem.I can not believe that the VP of Customer Service, the CFO and the CEO allow this to occur. Any one with money intelligence knows that this does not equate to a 1% "star reward". Apparently they are not qualified to do their jobs or they only care about their wallets or they believe customer service is optional.
