I corrupted my BIOS (a recent Thinkpad X1 Yoga laptop) after attempting to do a BIOS update. The warranty had already expired for 6 months. After researching that there was no way to fix this myself, I called Lenovo support. The customer service said it would cost $85 just to evaluate and I agreed. They sent me a box overnight, fixed the machine, then sent it back as if it were still under warranty. I'm very impressed. They didn't have to replace any parts, only needed to perform a BIOS load with their special/secret tool (I guess). Still, it was unexpected that they didn't charge me anything. Will continue to buy Lenovo.
