It only lived up to it's name for the first couple of years and since then has turned into a tabloid for Waitrose shoppers . No wonder it was one of the first newspapers to almost go out of print . Still it worms on in online form , spamming news feeds on face book with less then tabloid click bait , filled with non news events . Fake premises anything to keep having a day off real journalism and fuel gossip and speculation about non events . They censor their comments section to make it look they've engaged an audience rather then repulsed one. Which would be clear if they had no control over the comments section. Journalists used to be told to go out and find a story. Now it appears at the Independent the journalist must go out and find the click bait and failing that the Troll bait. No wonder journalism is no longer an attractive career choice for the majority of Britain's brightest graduates .
