I travel internationally often. Just had the worst experience with the IHG Intercontinental hotel reservation group. I made a simple reservation for he property in Barcelona, Called back a week later to make another reservation this time in Paris. The agent told me that upon review my reservation in Barcelona she could provide the same room for less money. She then changed my reservation. Surpise I get an email confirmation at a higher rate. I immediately called back and was told she they could not change it and give me back my old rate didn't matter I had written confirmation IHG had canceled that. I ask for a supervisor who opened a case and was told IHG would respond in 24 hours. Two days later I got an email confirming the new higher rate. I called again. Was told IHG would escalate the matter and expect a call within 24 hours. Never got a call. After four more calls and NEVER speaking to anyone in the USA or indeed a supervisor and being told IHG could not resolve the issue they created I was forced to cancel my reservations both in Paris and Spain having invested a total of 7.3 hours on the phone attempting to fix an issue IHG created and NEVER having gotten even the hint of a resolution AVOID this hotel group!!
