Got the letter to renew,ok. Inside was a leaflet that was headed up 'Save time, do it online!'. the leaflet also stated, "Having your driving licence, national insurance number and passport (IF YOU HAVE ONE) details will HELP your online application. Crucial wording in capitals. I completed the first page on line and about 3 others following that. Then we come "Enter your passport number" If you do not wish to provide your UK passport number, or do not have a UK passport, please click on the 'Next' button below to CONTINUE with your application. SO: I clicked to the next page to get this "The photo on your licence must be changed. To continue with your application you must provide your UK passport number. DVLA will try to access your passport photo and signature for use on your driving licence". This was encircled by a red box and underneath was a repeat of the message " The photo on your licence must be changed. To continue with your application you must provide your UK passport number. DVLA will try to access your passport photo and signature for use on your driving licence. I returned to the previous page and entered my OUT OF DATE passport number. Guess what got the same drivel on the next page. So there I was with a new photo ready to upload because it was going to save me time!!! What a joke Complete waste of money prinitng the leaflet and complete waste of time trying to do it online. My passport ran out during the pandemic like thousands of others I expect and haven't applied for a new one yet but will do so when in early 2023. What a dreadful web form. Don't bother it is a complete waste of your time and energy the form has been designed to make you go away. And they also have a WEBCHAT page somewhere, which I was not able to find and a feedback click line which also did not give out an email address that one could access.
