I had to explain 4-5 times to some attendant in an online chat why I wanted to cancel my subscription. The Economist deploys cheap tricks as barriers for cancelling subscription, in a desperate attempt to prevent readers from cancelling it. Even after a straightforward confirmation that my subscription would be cancel and no more charges would apply, I receive another email saying that I had joined a USD 22/month subscription. I had to get in touch through the online chat once again to ask for cancellation. Pathetic. Almost a scam.
