I had been using the old app for over 1000 days straight. Before that, I tried to spend time learning whenever I could. Then I got encouraged to participate in challenges and began to ensure I practiced everyday. I had become satisfied with paying to continue learning. Now the new app is awful. It doesn't allow me to progress nor review at my own pace. The developers believe there is only one style of learning and that is their style. Moving through the program is slow and takes longer each day. It is no longer fun. I do not think I will continue with the app and I encourage beginners to start with another app such as Babbel. The Duolingo programmers must not have consulted educational experts in the theories of learning.
