After more than four years with Duolingo and more than 1,500 consecutive days of training, I'm not even close to a useful conversational level. For two or three years I had a paid subscription, but now I'm about to quit. The speed for loading a lesson has dropped far below an acceptable level. The lessons focus too much on picky grammatical issues instead of useful conversation practice. The computer generated voices did not prepare me to understand what people said to me In France last summer. The list goes on. Maybe it is a good start, but I had hoped to be far ahead of where I am now.
