Poor communication, Dell!

I ordered a laptop on the Dell website & received confirmation and expected delivery date. Two weeks later I got what seemed like a phishing email (written in not very good English), telling me that the color I wanted was not available but that I could get the color I didn't want "for no extra cost". My order status on the website indicated nothing about this, so I chatted to a representative who confirmed the message was genuine. I am so annoyed about this because i) why could they not have let me know earlier about the color shortage? and ii) my only options were to cancel the order or take a color I didn't want. No option to wait longer for the desired color. Fortunately it was an easy matter to cancel the order on the website but I am completely unimpressed with Dell's customer service
