Will never buy a Dell laptop again. Utter junk. They have a very common problem of the laptop not recognising the charger so it holds the power level where it is and you can use it, but the laptop will lower performance to the level the battery is at even though it’s plugged in. My sons brand new laptop is on 3 percent battery. It won’t charge but allows him to use it plugged in but the performance is extremely slow. The first time this happened I got through to the support on what’s app. After several messages for me to run scans, try different things, they took remote control. They did a whole bunch of things and it did nothing. I’m about 2 hours in by this point. Then they had me remove the back of the laptop and disconnect the battery, saying they had a problem of the battery holding residual power. It is an internal battery so had to unscrew the laptop back. Then had to reconnect the battery after holding the power button down and reinserting the charger. Put it all back together and still not working. While he was organising a tech to fix it, it started working. He cancelled the tech and said call back if it happens again. It’s happened again after about a month. This tech is asking me to do different things than the last tech. When it doesn’t work he insists I film it and send it to him!!! Then had me run BIOS updates and after about 45 minutes of mucking around the computer says the battery must be above 10 percent to run the BIOS and wouldn’t allow me to go further. At this point I am 4 hours into the what’s app messaging with Dell support. After hours of differing suggestions, the tech then asked me to wiggle the ac adapter to see if that fixes it!!! It is a problem Dell knows about and have not fixed. Now told it is a motherboard problem and a technician will have to come out and fix it. The message that the laptop doesn’t recognise the charger was from day one of purchase, we just didn’t know what it meant. That means brand new Dell laptops have motherboard issues from the factory. Do not buy a Dell, I never will ever again.
